I am looking for help. Contact me by email at filmmaker AT BrendonMarotta DOT com with the role you’re interested in as your subject line.
Roles:
I am looking for someone who can go through existing long form content, like interviews, articles, and public events and pull 1 minute clips formatted for social media. You should also be able to identify quotes that can become quote memes, comments made in interviews that could be expanded into blog posts, or articles, and short clips that could be shared on Instagram, Facebook, and other social networks.
The goal is to create meaningful content we can share every day on social media that flows naturally from the appearances I’m doing to promote film projects. Although I’ve handled most social media up until this point, reaching the next level will require assembling a team, so I am free to focus on new projects, while someone continually turns the best of that into memes and short form videos. If done right, this will turn a month of media into a year of sharable content.
This role requires an eye for what content gets shared on social media, good organizational skills, and a basic knowledge of editing and Adobe Premiere. I am looking for someone interested working with me long-term, not just on content for my most recent film American Circumcision, but also on future projects.
This is a mission-based role. Although, I can offer some money, I’m ideally looking for someone I can work with long-term, dedicated to the mission of shifting human consciousness through art and media. Because I’m looking for talent I can work with long-term, I’m willing to invest in teaching you and creating a long-term work relationship. When you contact, let me know not just what skills you bring, but what your needs are to make working with me rewarding and sustainable.
I am looking for someone who can contact blogs, podcasts, influencers, media outlets, and people with an audience that might be interested in writing about or sharing our film, and future projects in the works.
There are a million media outlets now. The projects I am doing appeal to a variety of different niches (for example, American Circumcision appeals to expectant parents, men, sex positive groups, religious audiences, etc.). While a traditional publicist might focus on traditional media, I need someone who can follow through on the myriad of opportunities we have to introduce audiences to our film.
Your job would be to identify places with an audience that might cover our film or other projects, figure out how to contact them and what ask will get their attention, and then follow through to make sure they cover our work. Then take that coverage and trade those stories up the chain.
This role requires hard work and empathy. You have to understand the needs of the outlet you are contacting and what content they will publish. You have to understand the demands on their attention, and know how best to reach them. You have to understand the desires of the audience, what content they will pay attention to, and know how to hook them. And you have to put in the work to contact lots of publications and people with an audience, knowing most will not get back to you.
